Contexture Theatre Present Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick
The Contexture Theatre Company are presenting the play Cleo, Camping, Emmannuelle and Dick next week at the Rhodes Theatre in Bishop's Stortford. This infamous play by Terry Johnson premiered at London's National Theatre back in the late 1990s starring Geoffrey Hutchings, Samantha Spiro and Adam Godley.
If you love ‘Carry On’, you’ll love this play. Contexture Theatre returns with this sharp and hilarious biographical comedy revealing that the filming of the Carry On series was a less than glamorous affair, characterised by leaking caravans, inadequate pay-cheques and argumentative co-stars.
The action takes place on rain-soaked locations with a scantily-clad Barbara taking refuge in Sid’s trailer while he and co-star Kenneth Williams carry on their notorious feud.
While Barbara has to decide whether to dump her prison-bound husband and continue her affair with Sid, he helps Imogen to decide if her Barbie figure will go down well at the RSC.
“A funny, biting, and ultimately touching evening in the company of Sid, Babs and Kenneth.”
“I don’t want the love of the nation; it’s unhygienic” sniffs Kenneth Williams
Show Times: 7.30pm (Tuesday-Saturday), 3.00pm Matinee (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday) Tickets: £18 | £15 (Concessions*) | £12 (Carers Ticket**)
