Listen: Dame June Whitfield interviewed by Joanna Lumley
As it's Dame June Whitfield's 93rd birthday today I thought I would share this extra special little treat. I was scrolling across the internet this morning when I came across this lovely podcast interview June recorded on the occasion of her 90th birthday three years ago.
Interviewed at her home in London by long time friend and colleague, the actress Joanna Lumley, June reflects on her long and illustrious career as an actor. Entitled "June Whitfield: 90 Not Out" the interview was produced by Giddy Goat Media. The interview comes in two 30 minute parts and I think it's a really nice way to toast June on yet another amazing milestone.
With a career stretching back to the 1940s, Dame June has worked across all media and with almost every comedy performer you could ever imagine. From Noel Coward and Wilfrid Pickles; though Tony Hancock, Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe, Stanley Baxter and Tommy Cooper to Terry Scott, Jennifer Saunders and Julian Clary, June has been there, seen it and done it all. Sadly there aren't many from June's generation still around today but we're all thrilled June is still with us and well. And long may she continue to shine.
