Carry On Blogging Festive Advent: 4 December
And so, once again December is upon us. I'll be bringing you a daily dose of festive Carry On cheer each day on the lead up to the 25th.
So every day I will bring you another cracking Carry On photo with a festive theme. They will probably all be rather naughty, but hopefully all quite nice.
Today's festive photo takes us away from panto and to some extent, the world of Carry On. I'm a big fan of both the school-based comedy series Please Sir! and it's sequel, The Fenn Street Gang. Here's a lovely, colourful seventies snap of the main cast, including Carry On favourite Carol Hawkins. Also pictured are David Barry, Peter Cleall, Liz Gebhardt, Peter Denyer and Malcolm McFee. I presume this is from a Christmas Special of The Fenn Street Gang but if you know the story behind the photo, please do let me know!
What a Carry On at Christmas!

I've always loved the movie adaptation of Please Sir- one of the few spin-off sitcom movies that more than lived up to the original series. Nice guest starring role for Patsy Rowlands as well. (Patsy, by the way, delivered one of the great Carry On lines of all time, in my opinion, in 'Convenience', when she says to Kenneth Williams; "Don't worry, I know what a man looks like...And you're not all that much different.")
ReplyDeleteLove the film of Please Sir! And yes Patsy is great in it. Shame she wasn't in the series!
