Former Carry On and Coronation Street star Amanda Barrie has been making headlines for a rather lively appearance on breakfast television yesterday. Amanda was on Lorraine Kelly's morning show to discuss her new series, The Real Marigold Hotel, which started last night on BBC1.
Apparently Amanda temporarily forgot she was appearing live at 9am and described her segway riding skills as being "sh*t hot". Apart from this instantly making me want to witness Amanda astride a segway, I'm not quite sure why this minor slip up resulted in so many headlines across the print and social media networks! Amanda is delightfully spirited and sparkled in last night's episode of The Real Marigold Hotel.
This programme, as I've already blogged, follows eight famous older celebrities as they explore the possibility of retirement in India. Joining Amanda are the likes of Paul Nicholas, Dennis Taylor and Miriam Stoppard. The series is a joy and obviously one of my early highlights was Amanda delighting local Kerala residents with the news that she had indeed played Cleopatra in Carry On Cleo. The Carry Ons truly are a worldwide phenomenon!
I think we can forgive Amanda her very minor indiscretion on early morning television and I for one hope she never, ever changes!
