Happy Birthday Jacki Piper!

Many happy returns to the wonderful Jacki Piper who is celebrating her birthday today. Jacki of course starred in four of the Carry Ons - Up The Jungle, Loving, At Your Convenience and Matron.

Jacki was the sole actor in the Carry On team to ever be placed under contract. Unusually for Peter Rogers, he signed Jacki up on a two year deal and the rest is history. After a terrific debut as June opposite Terry Scott in Jungle, Jacki was back for a contemporary Carry On with Loving in 1970. Early the following year, having missed Henry, Jacki played Sid's bolshy daughter Myrtle Plummer in the classic At Your Convenience. Finally, she played Sister to Hattie Jacques' Matron in the last hospital film in the franchise, Carry On Matron.

Jacki continued the long line of elegant leading ladies and very much picked up where Angela Douglas had left off. Thankfully Jacki still plays an active part in all things Carry On, regularly turning up for anniversaries and other reunions. A real fan favourite, she has also been seen in numerous documentaries. It's always good to hear from Jacki Piper - she always has such fond memories of the Carry On team to share.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Jacki at the London Film Convention last year. You can read about that here

I also blogged a lovely interview with Jacki earlier last Summer. You can read that here

I always remember Jacki's birthday as it falls on the same date with my wedding anniversary!

Whatever Jacki is up to today, I hope she is celebrating in true style!

Happy Birthday Jacki and many more!
