Ah TV-am, those were the days. That pioneering breakfast news programme with its egg cup topped headquarters in Camden Lock. The station which brought us Mad Lizzy, Anne and Nick, Gyles Brandreth's post bag and Lorraine Kelly, reporting live from Glasgow. Whatever happened to her?
Purely on the basis of blogging research, I stumbled across this clip of a very familiar face, doing his bit on TV-am way back in 1984. I was possibly too young to have caught this when it was originally broadcast (despite featuring on the birthdays slot at around that time in a lovely yellow cardigan - thanks mum). Yes Mr Robin Askwith replaced Gordon Honeycombe to read the news for the morning. This being Robin, it all went t*ts up and he quite quickly lost his trousers. Poor Anne Diamond.
All I can say is I'd rather wake up to Robin every morning than Piers Morgan.
Enjoy!
