Carry On Advertising

I always love tracking down weird and wonderful appearances by Carry On actors away from the films. In the late 1970s the lovely, much missed Hattie Jacques featured in a couple of television adverts, which some kind soul has uploaded onto Youtube.

By this stage of her career Hattie had sadly parted company with the Carry On films, although was still regularly appearing on television with Eric Sykes. Unfortunately Hattie was struggling with different health issues and was not in a great place but ever the trouper still continued to work.

Here she is advertising Asda supermarkets:

And another appearance, this time in a commercial for British Rail alongside motor racing legend Jackie Stewart:

Curios from a by-gone age perhaps but interesting to see again all the same. It was such a shame that Hattie's life was cut short. She was a wonderfully gifted actress and comedienne who everyone speaks about so fondly. Like so many of her Carry On colleagues who are now no longer with us, I'm just glad we have records of their work that we can still enjoy.
